About Me

Nicholas DeLuca is a content creator, political operative and classical musician. He is a 2024 alumnus of Penn State University, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with minors in Digital Media Trends and Analytics and Music Performance.

Upon graduation, Nicholas joined Americans for Prosperity Action, where he played a pivotal role in Senator Dave McCormick's grassroots operation in Western Pennsylvania. His work included phone banking, voter outreach and engagement, and door-to-door operations in communities across Allegheny County. It was on the ground where Nicholas mobilized and connected face-to-face with voters in his community and engaged with them about the issues directly affecting their livelihoods. He would be part of the operation that sent McCormick to the United States Senate, made Pennsylvania political history and sent shockwaves through the national political landscape. Most recently, Nicholas was an operative for the Sarra Terry for Court of Common Pleas campaign. It was his work in voter engagement and outreach at events and committee meetings across Allegheny County that gained Terry primary ballot access.

In his media portfolio, Nicholas is broadcasted on Penn State Network News and COMMRadio, and published on The Borgen Project and BORGEN Magazine. It was at The Borgen Project where his research-based content, with a primary focus on global health, was exposed to worldwide audiences. Nicholas served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant in the Bellisario College of Communications, where he mentored students in Communications 403: Law of Mass Communications under the guise of Cynthia Simmons, J.D. Nicholas is also a former faculty member for the Washington Journalism and Media Conference, comprised of high-achieving high school students with demonstrated interests to pursue the journalism and media industries professionally. His students have gone on to become involved in their school's media production scene, and some have been admitted to prestigious journalism and media programs at universities in the United States and beyond.

In his musical career, Nicholas has earned spots in numerous elite and highly selective ensembles at Penn State and beyond and has had the honor of studying with and performing under batons of highly respected and accomplished artists and educators. His trumpet studies were under the guise of Langston Fitzgerald and Dillon Parker, and briefly Amy Gilreath. At Penn State, Nicholas performed with the Marching Blue Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Trumpet Studio. In April 2023, he garnered Undergraduate Jury Recognition for his rendition of Movement I of Joseph Haydn's Trumpet Concerto.

In his free time, Nicholas enjoys playing his trumpet, traveling, distance walking, spending time with friends and family and rooting for Pittsburgh and Penn State sports. He is also a passionate advocate for diabetes education and mental health awareness in teens and young adults.
